British Championships Gold for Shane
Quinn
Ferrybank A.C. had yet another
sucessful weekend in Birmingham last weekend taking home a
gold and two bronze medals along with two fourth
placings.
The finest performer of the weekend was
Shane Quinn who took the gold medal in the under 15 1500m with a new
championship record of 4 mins 14.14 seconds. Shane led from gun to
tape and was one of the most convincing winners of the weekend
winning by almost 50meters.
Niall Tuohy turned in another fine 800m
performance in a most competitive under 17 800m taking the
bronze medal in 1min 55.18s. Securing another bronze for the
Ferrybank club was Niamh Whelan. she produced a time just one
hundredth of a second outside her lifetime best ever time in taking
the bronze medal in 24.44s. Niamh also finished fourth in the 100m.
Most of these athletes will conclude
their seasons next week-end on home soil at the R.S.C. where they
will represent Ireland in the Celtic International.
