The AAA (Amateur Athletics Association) British Multi Event Championships were held in Birmingham and Ferrybank Athletic
Club had two representatives in the Junior Girls Heptathlon. Kalyn Sheehan & Mairead Murphy entered the competition ranked
2nd & 3rd but this was with a lighter shot to the one the UK girls had been throwing. The lead changed hands a number of
times between many athletes with Kalyn leading after the second event (hurdles) and Mairead leading going into the last
event being the 800 meters. Kalyn ran a strong two laps to take the title with Mairead in second place ahead of 28 other athletes.
