Ferrybank A.C. concluded their
excellent crosscountry season on Saturday last in Athlone Institute
with two individual medals along with four team prizes at the second
day of the national Cross Country Championships.
In the girls under thirteen race, Megan
Kiely, Ciara giles Doran, April Flynn, Autumn Coady and promise
Owoeye ran superble and were rewarded with the bronze medals in the
Inter club section.
In the Boys under 13 Ben Kiely ran an
excellent race and was a member of the victorious Munster team in
the Inter Provincial section.
In the Boys under 15 Shane Quinn, one
of the stars of this years cross country season again led from gun
to tape to decimate the opposition when winning by almost 200m - a
phenonomal performance by any standards.
In the girls under 17 Ciara Cronin,
lorraine McCarthy, Kitty Walsh, Niamh Ryan and Grainne Brennan all
ran very well to take team silver medals being beaten only by an
exceptional team from Dundrum South Dublin.
Patrick Hogan ran an excellent race to
take the silver medal in the Boys under 17 race and was joined by
clubmates John francis and patrick Flynn on the winning Munster team
in the Inter Provincial section.
In The girls under 19 mary o Connor,
grainne Quinn and tara Quinn again ran very well to take the team
silver medals.
The boys under 19 team struck gold in
the team section in a most exciting race winning by just 1 point
from St Malachys of Belfast. The team was led home by Conor dooney
in 4th place , Niall Tuohy in 5th, Ferdia O HAodha, gavin Downey,
Diarmuid O Foghlu and Kevin Cooper.
At the conclusion of the 2 days of
National finals Ferrybank A.C. team medal tally was 2 gold, 3 silver
and 2 bronze Well done to all involved.
