All Ireland Cross Country Championships, Dungarvan, Sunday, November 25th 2001.
The All Ireland Cross Country Championships were held in Dungarvan on Sunday November 25th 2001. The club
was represented by the boys under 10 team and Holly Deegan who was on the Munster team in the girls under 14.
Conditions for Cross Country running were excellent and the boys under 10 team ran brilliantly to finish 5th team
overall out of a total of 15 teams from the 32 counties. John Francis lead the team home with an excellent 16th
place overall. He was followed by Ciaran Donnelly in 29th position with Shane Quinn, Robert Cunningham and Ben
Cunningham close behind.
Holly Deegan ran very well in her 1st All Ireland Cross Country finishing in 42nd place out of 120 starters. This was
an excellent performance as Holly was competing 1 year out of her age group.
These Championships were the last of this years Cross Country season, which proved to be the most successful in
the history of Ferrybank AC.
