Kelly gets the season off to a good start
On Saturday last four athletes from Ferrybank A.C.
including Kelly Proper competed in an Indoor meeting in Loughborough
College in England and Kelly had a good effort
in the Long Jump as she took second place with a jump of 6.33 metres. The event
was won by Jessica Ennis, the World Heptathlon
Champion who jumped 6.39 metres, in the same event Nicola Power was fifth with
5.55 metres. In the 60 metres Niamh Whelan also had a good start to her season
when she finished third in 7.60 seconds with Kelly Proper behind her in fifth
place with 7.66 seconds, in the men's 60 metres
Christopher Russell was unplaced. In Scotland on Saturday also Alex
Flynn competed in a 4km cross country race at the Edinburgh Cross Country
Festival over a very snowy course and finished fourth in a very big field of
runners, he was timed at 13 minutes 37 seconds and the race was won in 12
minutes and 41 seconds. The race was a curtain raiser to the big International
races at the same venue.
