Munster
medals won in Tralee
On Sunday last a sizable number
of athletes from Waterford clubs competed in the
Munster Cross Country championship fixture on Tralee Racecourse and there were
quite a few medal winners individual and team and also several juvenile
athletes that made Munster
teams for the upcoming Nationals. Niall McCormack, Ferrybank
ran a superb race to win the Men's Intermediate and Rory Moloney
West Waterford also ran a fine race in the same event to finish 5th overall. In
the Juvenile section Kate Veale West Waterford once again figured prominently
in the under 17 grade to take the silver medal, her
team mate Robbie Mulligan also ran a very good race to take the bronze u 15 and
Eoin Brown Ferrybank was
another to impress as he took the bronze at u 13 level.
Ferrybank won
the girls u 9 Inter Club team award and were also third in the boys u 13 and girls u 15 and West
Waterford were third in the girls u 13. At inter county team level
Waterford had
two bronze medal placings the girls inder 11 and u 13. Other high individual placings for Ferrybank were Adam
Power 5th u9, Krista Meade 6th u 11, Dara Musgrave
9th u 11, Aoife Casey 9th u 9 and Isobel Cummins 10th
u 11 and for West Waterford Sinead Flynn 7th u 13, Shamie
Fennell 7th u 13, Declan Power 9th u 19 and Miceal
Power 11th u 11, for K.C.K. Gary Cantwell was 12th u 17 and for Waterford A.C.
Siobhan Heylin was 10th u 17.
