National Community Games finals, Mosney, Co. Meath, 25th & 26th August, 2001
Ferrybank Athletic Club had thirteen athletes on the Waterford team for the community games finals in Mosney, Co. Meath. The team departed Waterford by train on Friday, Sugust 24th and returned on Monday August27th.
A most enjoyable weekend was had by athletes and officials. Ciaran Donnelly was the star of the weekend by winning the Gold Medal for Waterford in the boys under 10 hurdles.
The girls under 14 relay ran very well to qualify for the final where they finished seventh overall. The girls under 12 relay finished second in their head and were very unlucky not to qualify for the final when they finished fifth in the semi final.
Emily Tierney ran very well in the girls under 10 hurdles to finish third in her head and fifth in the semi final.
Others to perform well in individual events were Eoin Beglin (under 14 hurdles) Holly Deegan (under 14 long jump), Kelly Proper (under 16 high jump) and Mairead Murphy (under 14 shot)
