Munster Indoor Championships, Under 14 / Under 17, Nenagh, 2nd & 3rd March, 2002

The Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships were held at Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Saturday 2nd March and
Sunday March 3rd, 2002.

Ferrybank A.C. enjoyed the clubs best ever week-end at the Munster Indoor Championships, returning a total of
14 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals, aling with two championship best performances.

Mairead Murphy had a dream weekend winning gold in the girls under-14 60 meters, long jump, high jump and shot and relay
along with a silver medal in the hurdles. Kalyn Sheehan won gold in the under-14 60 meter hurdles with a new Championship
record of 9.43 seconds and was also on the winning relay team. She also won a bronze medal in the high jump and finished
fourth in the 60 meters. Holly Kavanagh won two bronze medals under 14 in the shot and hurdles. The 4 x 200meters relay
team of Mairead, Kalyn, Hayley Murphy and Mairead Deevy took the gold medals along with a new Championship record
of 1.56.2 seconds.

In the under-15 age group, Kelly Proper had her best ever weekend winning three gold medals in the hurdles, high jump
and long jump. Holly Deegan performed very well to finish 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the high jump. Gilliam Rohan won
two bronze medals in both the 60 meter hurdles and high jump.

The girls under-15 relay team of Kelly, Gilliam, Holly and Jane Cunningham finished in 4th position.

Eoin Beglin was second in the boys under-15 hurdles losing the gold medal by only 2 hundreths of a second.

Sonia Kennedy continued her recent good form and easily won the girls under-17 shot.

Dara Foley had a winning return to competition, after his recent lay-off due to injury, in taking gold in the boys under-17 high jump
with a leap of 1.80m.

Among others to perform well were Jessie Barr, Aisling Walsh, Mary O'Connor, Eimear Grant, Martha Dalton and Eoin Quinn.
