GOLDEN RELAY TEAM by Mairead Deevy
On your marks.................
Get set...........................
Bleep!!!
Off Mairead goes,
Like a bullet from a gun,
Faster than a cheetah,
Overtaking everyone.
She's coming off the bend now,
Ferrybank still in the lead,
The baton is handed to Kalyn,
Who then takes off at top speed.
She sprints around the first bend
And then she's on the back-straight,
Up onto the second bend
Bening cheered on by her teammates.
Now Hayley's got the baton
And she's left the start behind,
Running faster than ever before
We've already won in my mind.
Then suddenly Hayley approaches,
I'm as ready as ever will be,
I feel the baton in my hand
Now it's all down to me.
I sprint around the track,
As fast as I can go,
The finish-line is very near,
There's not far now to go.
I cross over the line first,
I wonder if it's a dream,
But it's not, we've won the All Irelands,
We're a "Golden Rrelay Team".
