Gavin Kennedy Wins Scottish Combined Events
 
Gavin Kennedy representing Ferrybank Athletic Club won the Scottish Indoor under 17 Pentathlon Championships in Glasgow last Saturday in fine style recording a lifetime best score of 3099 points. He produced four personal best performances in high jump , shot, hurdles and 800m en route to the gold medal and indeed was only marginally outside his best ever jump in the fifth event the long jump.
 
Meanwhile Ferrybank A.C. athletes have been in sparkling form recently at the Munster indoor juvenile championships where they won 28 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze medals. trriple gold went to Nicola power under 17, and sinead Donnelly under 18. Other gold medal winners were grainne Quinn, Kitty Walsh, John Francis, shane Quinn, gavin Downey, Christopher russell, Steophen Murphy, Niamh Whelan, haley Murphy, Gavin Kennedy, Andreas Heinsoo, Brenda, Doherty, Andre heffernan , Under 19 boys and under 17 girls relays.
 
At a recent International Competition in Cardiff Ferrybank A.C. had two winners for Ireland when Kelly Proper won the junior long jump and Mary O Connor the junior 800m. Niamh Whelan (60m), Mairead Murphy (60m hurdles) and  Mairead Deevy (400m) all took silver medals and Christopher Russell took bronze in the 200m.
 
Ferrybank A.C. are hoping for further success this weekend in Glasgow where they will have 80 athletes contesting the Scottish under 13, 15, 17 & 20 champuonships. They have been the top club at these championships fpor the last few years and will be hoping to maintain this success this weekend.
